ReNu Contact Lens Solution

ReNu with MoistureLoc, manufactured by Bausch & Lomb, is a cleansing solution used to disinfect contact lenses after use. The product was recalled in May 2006 amidst reports of corneal fungal infections associated with its use. The infection, Fusarium Keratitis, can result in increased astygmatism that sometimes requires corneal transplant. A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) investigation revealed that at least 130 ReNu users were infected with the bacterial infection after using ReNu with MoistureLoc. Consumers throughout the U.S. have filed lawsuits against Bausch & Lomb, which allege that the company acted too slowly in issuing the ReNu recall.
