The parents of a Chico State University nursing student have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Ohio man involved in the drunken driving incident that led to their daughter's death.

The lawsuit, filed by Dave and Sandra Chesterman, seeks damages from defendant Riley Dean Hoover for striking Kristina Chesterman as she was bicylcing home.

When Hoover was arrested, a blood sample showed his blood alcohol content to be .33, four times the legal adult limit.

Chesterman was declared dead at Enloe Medical Center on Sept. 24, two days after the crash.

Chris Wood, the Chestermans' attorney, said the lawsuit is intended to put an end to drunk drivers killing or injuring loved ones.
